Carotid IMT Testing

Carotid Intima-Media Thickness (IMT) Testing is a non-invasive ultrasound technology used at our office to determine your risk for heart attack, atherosclerosis and stroke. We utilize a skilled, certified ultrasound technician to obtain specialized images of the carotid artery, the artery near the surface of your neck.

Advanced Lipid and Biomarker Testing

Specialized tests providing in-depth information on cholesterol is crucial to preventing heart attacks and stroke. Lipid and Biomarker Testing go beyond standard cholesterol analysis examining size of cholesterols and genetic likelihood of heart disease, as well as biological markers that can indicate worsening disease. Test outcomes have helped identify 'under the radar' cholesterol risks in numerous patients, as well as monitor the effectiveness of their treatments.

Insulin Challenge Test

The Insulin Challenge Test is an easy, effective and routinely administered test, done in-house to detect and monitor how your body breaks down sugars and how susceptible you may be to diabetes.

  • Step 1. Measure your blood sugar and insulin levels.
  • Step 2. Have you drink a large dose of Glucola (like a syrupy orange cola).
  • Step 3. We continue to check your blood sugar and insulin levels every hour for two hours.

Results are used to help identify and manage insulin resistance and reduce the progression to diabetes as well as diminish the risk of heart attacks and stroke.

Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring

Monitoring blood pressure in regular intervals is important to making a proper assessment of a patient's blood pressure reading. High resting blood pressure can occur due to patient anxiety over their doctor visit, known as White Coat Syndrome, rather than the disease of hypertension. It is important to us that we diagnose you correctly.

Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring (ABPM) connects you to a small blood pressure device for 24 hours to assess accurately your condition. ABPM can also be used to measure the effectiveness of blood pressure medicine in the treatment of hypertension.
